Saipem — Vessel Software Lead, 03/2023 - 05/2026.
JSD6000 Derrick Pipelay Vessel — Shanghai, China and Offshore Brazil
Vessel Software Lead for all vessel production equipment software through shipyard completion, sea trials, handover from ZPMC and offshore J-Lay projects (Buzios 7, LAPA).
- Executed I/O tests and cold and hot loop tests on 10,000+ I/O (J-Lay 4,000 I/O, S-Lay 6,000 I/O), walk-downs, punch lists and mechanical completion.
- Designed, specified and programmed OFE to OFE interfaces (Profibus, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, MQTT) and OFE to vessel interfaces (Kongsberg K-Chief, K-Pos, Profibus DP, Modbus RTU) using gateway modules and ControlLogix PLCs.
- Commissioned Kongsberg K-Chief, Rockwell ESD and Consilium F&G systems with the shipyard during marine sea trials; tested main production equipment with the DP system during operational sea trials.
- Tested SIS / ESD cause and effect matrices and performed production equipment functional tests.
- Integrated new equipment into the electrical and control system: ILUC, weld logger, A&R wire rope monitoring, motion monitoring, Goriziane welding equipment and Remacut S-Lay traffic light system.
- Provided onboard support for J-Lay system operations with production teams and operators; performed fault finding on PLC, HMI, SCADA and network equipment and managed corrective actions with vendor service engineers.
- Optimized production sequences and trained the onboard software engineering team (3 off) during the first two J-Lay projects.
- Designed and implemented a vessel-wide OT network connecting all production equipment (VLAN segmentation, NAT, IP addressing plan) for centralized maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Merged all OFE SCADA systems into a single redundant vessel-wide FactoryTalk View SE system.
- Deployed from the ground up a Proxmox virtualization cluster hosting VMs and containers for PLC, HMI and SCADA development.
- Deployed from the ground up an ibaPDA / ibaHD data acquisition platform collecting 90,000 tags via OPC UA, OPC DA, MQTT and Siemens drivers, plus a Kongsberg KIMS OPC UA server.
